GET READY TO ROCK!

Seeing as Hi-Fi RUSH is a rhythm game, the music is very important! The soundtrack is comprised predominantly of rock music, with a few jazz and electronic songs spicing things up a bit. Some say that all the rock songs just sort of blend together, but I disagree. If you listen to the music, you'll find that each section of the game has its own musical flares. For instance, in R&D, the songs have the highest BPM of all the songs in the tracks, and the ones in track 4 use bongos. Compare this to security's songs, which make use of synths and tambourines.

There are a total of 82 songs, including all of the ones that don't actually appear in the game itself. On February 17th of 2023, the full soundtrack (excluding the B-sides songs) was uploaded to YouTube in one big video by the official Bethesda Softworks channel. There's also a playlist on Youtube of most of all of the songs that is unofficial and was done by Shreeder4902, starting back on January 30th of 2023 and was last updated on December 12th of that same year.

The majority of the music was composed for the game, but they do use some licensed music for certain segments (mostly the boss fights). However, they also made original songs for all of those segments, which can be heard by toggling streamer mode on! The licensed music in question is as follows:

All of the licensed tracks that play in-game are extended versions of the original songs in order to better work with the segments that they play during. This is why some of them are covers.

It was primarily composed by Matoshi Yanagi and Shuichi Kobori, with REO composing a couple of songs and the streamer mode songs being done by the Glass Pyramids. John Johanas, the director of Hi-Fi RUSH, helped out and did the vocals for all of the songs that have them (not including the ones done by the Glass Pyramids).

The OST became available to purchase on Steam on April 6th of 2023, with the B-sides later being available for free there on October 12th of that year. It was added to Spotify on February 12th of 2023, with the B-sides being added the same day as they became available on Steam.

There are no physical versions of the full OST available. However, there are two vinyl sets comprised of 4 discs which contain 42 of the songs on them that are sold by Laced Records. The only difference between the two sets is that one was limited edition and the discs were differently colored and multi-colored to match the character on each. They first became available to pre-order on July 27th of 2023, and later the limited edition set was restocked on July 2nd of 2024.
